In response to the spectacular popularity of BIG Ostróda, a retail park developed in partnership with BIG Poland, Acteeum is embarking on a comprehensive expansion of the Ostróda shopping center. Opened in August 2024, the facility has been highly acclaimed by tenants and immensely popular with customers from the outset. The expansion will allow for the opening of a new, stand-alone Popyeys restaurant and the expansion of retail space by additional 4,000 sqm. The newly constructed restaurant pavilion is scheduled to open shortly after the summer holidays, and the new retail space will be available to tenants in the first quarter of 2027.
Opened in August 2024, the Ostróda retail park, developed by Acteeum and BIG Poland, boasts 25,000 sqm of GLA, 30 stores, and a McDonald’s restaurant. BIG Ostróda has been a hit with both customers and tenants from the outset. The immense popularity of BIG Ostróda has led investors to embark on a large-scale expansion of the shopping center less than eighteen months after its opening.
Having obtained a valid building permit, Acteeum has begun construction works, which will result in developing of a new, free-standing food pavilion and an additional 4,000 sqm of GLA of retail space within BIG Ostróda. The expansion will further expand and enhance the complex’s shopping offerings, and will also introduce the highly anticipated and the only one within the region Popeyes restaurant, which will open after the summer holidays.
– We are delighted with the enormous popularity of our Ostróda project – a popularity among both tenants and visitors. Since its opening, customers have welcomed our new shopping center, which has practically become the shopping and lifestyle destination of choice for many residents of Ostróda and the surrounding area, as well as an excellent stopover for those traveling along the nearby S7 and S16 expressways.
With the growing popularity of the facility, the need for additional retail and service space has become natural. Responding to tenants’ interest, we are expanding BIG Ostróda, enriching its retail offerings and service functions with the addition of another highly expected restaurant – Popeyes.
– says Tomasz Szewczyk, Managing Partner of Acteeum Group.
The opening of Popeyes is scheduled for September this year, when construction works on an additional pavilion with new retail space will also begin.
BIG Ostróda is the first and largest shopping complex of its kind in the region, with a total area of over 25,000 sqm, including over 14,000 sqm of retail park space.
The shopping center includes a free-standing DYI Castorama hypermarket with an area of 9,000 square meters, and over 30 stores and service outlets – including a large Biedronka supermarket, well-known fashion stores, popular discount chains, and a McDonald’s restaurant with a drive-thru. Additionally, the retail park offers ample parking for over 700 vehicles and electric car charging infrastructure, providing a significant advantage not only for residents but also for those traveling along the S7 and S16 routes, where the facility is located.
The BIG Ostróda shopping center has opened up new shopping opportunities and comprehensively complemented the offerings of smaller retail outlets in the city and region. The facility attracts customers not only with its location but also with its concept, which allows for shopping across a variety of categories in one place. Direct access from the parking lot to each store ensures easy, safe, and comfortable shopping in a much shorter time than in other retail facilities.
