BIG Gorzów – the largest retail park in Lubuskie voivodship, a joint project of Acteeum and Equilis – has been marked with the BREEAM certificate at the Excellent level. This prestigious certificate proves that the facility meets the highest ESG standards and confirms the pro-ecological focus of investors while developing the Gorzów shopping center, opened in August 2024.

On October 24, 2024, experts from the BRE Global organization, issuer of BREEAM certificates, after a comprehensive assessment of the BIG Gorzów shopping center, assigned  to the Gorzów retail park the highest EXCELLENT rating. The project analysis carried out during the BREEAM certification confirmed its highest rank in terms of sustainable development and the special pro-ecological features of BIG Gorzów, especially in the field of optimizing energy, water, consumables and waste usage.

In addition to strictly ecological aspects, the BREEAM certificate ranked at the highest level the project management system as well as all solutions used in BIG Gorzów promoting the comfort, health and well-being of users – both customers and employees.

– The certificate received by BIG Gorzów brought great deal of satisfaction and joy to us. It proves our determination and effectiveness in pro-ecological focus, at every stage of the development process, from the design to the launch of the finished shopping center. The fact that our Gorzów project, the first and so far the only such retail park in Poland, obtained BREEAM Excellent, makes Acteeum’s ventures a vanguard on the Polish retail market, not only in terms of development and commercialism, but also in the actual implementation of the highest ESG standards.

– says Tomasz Szewczyk, Managing Partner, Acteeum Central Europe.

Focusing on the practical deployment of ESG principles, implementing pro-ecological solutions and ensuring harmonious integration of implemented projects with the surrounding environment are among the key pillars of Acteeum’s growth strategy. It assumes that each subsequent retail park developed by Acteeum is to be an example of the highest ESG standards, setting the market direction for the new investments in the retail industry.

– From the very beginning of this project we focused on the highest quality and care for the environment. Therefore, we planned ecological benches and baskets made of composite material made of used clothing, parking lot lighting powered by solar panels, use of rainwater in bathrooms, installation of charging stations for electric vehicles and finally special retention tanks, from which water will gently seep into the soil even after heavy rains. That’s not all, because BREEAM Excellent really is the highest standard: each wooden board used in the construction had to have an appropriate certificate, confirming that it was obtained in compliance with the principles of sustainable development and without harm to the environment.

– says Krzysztof Foder, General Director Equilis Poland.
